Both parties agree that their own dogs involved in this breeding are in good health and that all shots and worming are up to date before day of breeding to be verified by Veterinarian if necessary. Bitch owner agrees to be forthcoming with ALL vet records in connection with the mother and birth should they be requested by Stud owner. Bitch owner agrees to screen the homes these resulting puppies go to. Bitch owner agrees all puppies produced as a result of this breeding cannot be sold or placed in puppy mills, pet stores, or purchased by puppy brokers . AKC registration and sire litter approvals will be done after the litter is 3 weeks old as by this time the serval rate of the puppies is likely. Except in puppy back situations, in which the stud owner will approve the litter at the time the puppy is given back to the stud owner (more info below).

STUD SERVICE IS GUARANTEED:

Conception before and after live, motile semen is delivered or inseminated is the sole responsibility of the Bitch owner and or your veterinarian. There must be accurate timing, care/diet (progesterone testing), proper procedures, and ovulation with eggs dropped in order for the semen to reach the eggs and penetrate them. We try to help guide our bitch owners to success and hopefully larger, healthier litter sizes by educating them on timing, diet, supplements and types of breeding procedures.

A “LITTER” constitutes two live puppies. We provide a repeat breeding at no cost to the bitch owner if a litter is not born. However the proper progesterone timing testing must have been done. In this case the bitch owner is only responsible for collecting and shipping expenses. (see more information below on progesterone testing your female). In this case the Bitch owner is to notify the Stud Dog Owner within two days after the due date. Notifying the stud owner that the bitch did not have puppies and is to be credited a repeat breeding. A letter from a certified Veterinarian which must include the female’s microchip number is required to be provided to the STUD DOG owner, for proof the bitch did not produce a litter and for records in her file.

Both parties agree that if the stud dog dies, is not on the premises or other circumstantial events out of Stud owners control at the time of breeding. The bitch and stud owner agree to choose another “like stud” of their choice (similar stud fee, pedigree) or the bitch owner may choose to use the stud credit at a later time).

STUD SERVICE TERMS FOR PUPPY BACK OPTIONS:

Most of the above applies.

To qualify for a puppy back option we must want a puppy from your female, so her pedigree, type, possible testing will be taken into consideration more so. We may require extra information about the bitch as well as the bitches owner.

PAYMENTS: Same $500 deposit for reservation. We take a non-refundable deposit which is a different fee depending on the stud dog, that is due when the female dog’s heat starts her heat. If the $500 deposit is in place it is subtracted from the remaining deposit fee. Bitch owner is responsible for collection and shipping the semen fees as normal.

PUPPY BACK PROCEDURE: IF the bitch owner is keeping the pick puppy for themselves and the future of their breeding program the stud owner will accept a second pick puppy. However in the event the bitch owner is simply selling the pick puppy and IF the STUD OWNER wants to keep the puppy for their breeding program the stud owner has the right to pick first. All other circumstances Stud owner agrees to accept a second pick puppy. This puppy is given back to the stud owner after the 6 week healthy vet check at that time the stud owner will approve the litter registration. A “LITTER” constitutes two live puppies. If only one live puppy is produced Bitch owner keeps the puppy and the breeding is repeated on the females next heat.

Note: For some (in house only studs) we may require a level of friendship or experience with the bitch owner (example: owned one of our puppies in the past, done past stud services, etc.) before we reach the trust level. Some studs may have special terms or limitations possible (example: male puppies being sold with breeding rights).

REPEAT DISCOUNTS: We offer a 10% discount or at times higher for repeat bitch owners we have formed a trusting relationship with.

PROGESTERONE TESTING OVULATION TIMING:
With progesterone testing, we can be sure the semen is put in the bitch at the proper time window, when the eggs will be most fertile, no matter what type of insemination method we are using (see list below). Progesterone test should be done by a vet who is trained in reproduction and does a lab blood test using “nanogram (ng) numbers”, or at least converts the numbers to nanograms. Color chart progesterone test are not accurate. ALWAYS make sure your vet gives you the actual ng test result numbers, NOT just tells you when to breed. We see vets give people the wrong dates to breed or even tell people they passed the heat altogether when it was spot on all of the time.

It is also now possible for breeders to purchase progesterone testing machines but the correct kind and blood draw is required. Progesterone testing in most females should be started on day 6 or 7 after the first sign of blood. However if a female has lighter blood, older in age or history of fast or silent heats you might need to test sooner. Tests should be done every 2 – 4 days depending on the last results & history. The magic nanogram number is 5.0ng – 7.0ng as this is when ovulation occurs. Even if a female has been in heat-cycle for only 2 days or as long as three weeks plus, 5.0ng is still the magic ovulation number. After ovulation there is about a four day window we have to hit that varies from bitch to bitch.

Once ovulated, a bitch’s eggs take approximately 48 hours to become ripe and fertile. They will then remain fertile for approximately 48 hours depending on the female. It is important to understand that females ng numbers go very slowly up to ovulation 5.0ng, after that the numbers may skyrocket up to 30.ng or only be at 10.ng but the female is still ready. This is why knowing the 5.0 – 7.0 is so important.

Breeding types with ovulation timing:
A/I Fresh semen artificial insemination. (collected fresh & directly AI into bitch/ not frozen, chilled or shipped) we routinely recommend breeding days 1 and 3 post ovulation
A/I Fresh chilled with extended semen, we recommend breeding 2 days after ovulation.
TCI Transcervical insemination with an endoscope, we recommend breeding 2 days after ovulation.
S/I Surgical insemination w/fresh chilled with extended semen, we recommend breeding 2 days after ovulation.
S/I Surgical insemination w/frozen semen , we recommend waiting three days after ovulation to do the breeding.

LITTER DUE DATES / OVULATION TIMING: Regardless, having an accurate ovulation date based on good progesterone testing at the beginning of a pregnancy is also very important at the end of a pregnancy. A normal dog bitch’s due date is 63 days from ovulation, regardless of breeding days. So with bulldogs we count 62 days to avoid middle of the night emergencies. This is extremely valuable for planned c-sections, due to such factors as breed conformation, litter size, prior medical history, or complications arising during the pregnancy. It is also very helpful when whelping. Knowing an exact due date not only helps breeders prepare for the arrival of a litter, but, often more importantly, it can alert us to a premature or overdue labor, allowing for prompt medical intervention if indicated.

The best news is progesterone testing is more common every day as well as finding vets to do different types of breedings you choose. 20 years ago all these wonderful options were not so easy.

YOUR LITTER DUE DATE:
For English Bulldogs count 62 days from ovulation, other breeds 63 days from ovulation (ovulation nanogram number is 5.0ng – 7.0ng ). Counting the first 24 hrs as day #1 and so forth… In nature dogs would breed at ovulation (2-4 days before the eggs are ready) but we take matters into our own hands. Another reason why accurate ovulation dates based on good progesterone testing at the beginning of a pregnancy is also very important at the end of a pregnancy. A normal dog bitch’s due date is 63 days from ovulation, regardless of breeding days. So with bulldogs we count 62 days to avoid middle of the night emergencies.

This is extremely valuable for French and English bulldog’s planned C-sections, due to breed conformation factors in the breeds, the danger for the mother and puppies if the mother comes into labor unexpectedly. It is also very helpful when whelping any breed. Knowing an exact due date not only helps you as a breeders prepare for the arrival of a litter, but, often more importantly, it can alert us to premature or overdue labor, allowing for prompt medical intervention if indicated. Best to have the knowledge yourself . Unfortunately most vets tell people the wrong due dates based on when dogs in nature would breed natural and whelp.
